Kanu afflicted with malnutrition and cardiac illness. (IPOB) 

The IPOB has asserted that their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, is afflicted with malnutrition and cardiac illnesses. The separatist organization conveyed this accusation through its representative, Emma Powerful, who issued a statement Tuesday, March 14. They dared the DSS to refute their allegations by permitting Kanu's doctor to examine him.

The statement read; 

An obvious inquiry for the DSS is if anyone is ever content in their isolation facility, particularly a person who has been denied fresh attire, prevented from using their prayer garment, and blocked from seeing their physician despite having a known health condition. If the DSS asserts that Kanu is receiving sufficient care and that IPOB and his legal team are manipulating public opinion for sympathy, they ought to permit unrestricted access to his doctor to verify his current condition of health.

“It is imperative to deliver this message to the public that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s health condition is still deteriorating inside DSS solitary confinement as a result of poor or lack of medical attention and feeding.

"Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is suffering from an unsettled malnourishment. Additionally, he has a condition affecting his ears and heart that necessitates immediate surgery. The DSS ought to unconditionally release MNK as directed by the court or transport him to experts for appropriate medical assessment and therapy. Enlisting the help of the press to criticize IPOB, MNK, and his legal counsel will not absolve them of responsibility if any harm befalls our leader."

Also reacting to claim of IPOB lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor allegedly working against Kanu, Powerful said; 

“How could someone with a sane mind say that Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, who has been under serious attacks from DSS and the Nigeria Army, is working against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu or IPOB?”
